This job was for a local business in Guthrie Center where the floor had become soft due to water damage and rot. From the photos you can see that the area of floor that needed urgent attention was also the main traffic area of the business – the front door! This was a quick project that needed to be completed while the business was closed.
The project involved moving business furnishings, removal of the flooring tile and subfloor, along with removing or partially removing damaged joints. New lumber was added, new sub floor and new tile installed.

One of the things a handyman has to be is handy. Here is another one of those “handy” services that we can do that most don’t realize we can do – painting. Our shop actually used to be an auto dealership back in the day, so we have the ideal space to prep, paint or repair vehicles. Like a lot of guys, we like cars, trucks and tinkering and improving them. Here we have the old Lakeside work truck a 1987 Dodge Ram 150. Quite a bit of prep work was involved as this vehicle, as it had been “sitting” for a good deal of time before it became ours. Hard work yields good results. Single pane windows (and drafty windows) can contribute up to 45% of a homes heat loss in the winter (and similar heat gains in the summer). This home’s aging windows had a poor seal… along with a broken storm window that provided a nice nesting area for birds.
After starting and removing the siding, there was evidence of water damage to the framing and insulation. Lakeside Handyman repaired the water damaged material, installed new wall sheathing, added Tyvek moisture barrier, installed the energy effient windows, installed new siding and applied caulk to the window edge to keep water damage from returning. Also, since these windows are located on the second story of the home, they also have the easy-to-clean feature allowing the home owner easy maintence and cleaning.
